Carey was almost 5'10 tall when she became a top model. The popularity of her was with American fashion designers Calvin Klein or Ralph Lauren was high. Her father is a distinguished geologist, who was awarded Scientist Of The Year 1979 by the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists. Because of his professional career Carey has been raised across the world. When she was a student at an institution called the University of Colorado, Carey began modeling on the side. The Ford model agency located in New York noticed her and was willing to assist. Her move to France in the year 1980, and lived for a short time in Paris as well as Bordeaux before deciding to return to New York to continue with her college education and modeling career and was soon appearing on the covers of Vogue, Glamour, etc. In between modeling assignments she also studied the study of literature at New York University.
